I think the ones they have listed as humanitarian are usually a donation of your time. You might try the American Red Cross though, sometimes they have paid positions. You could also try the various other organizations that respond to world wides crisis’. Just a thought.

Hi to all,
I would like to share with you this information.
On September 24th, in Italy/Tuscany, in the framework of a civil protection exercise we carried out a test using crowdmap (ushahidi), google docs, gmail, latitude, livestream, iPad and wordpress.
The exercise was organized and managed by the Centro Intercomunale Colline Marittime e Bassa Val di Cecina, a civil protection structure that manages 11 municipality in the province of Pisa (Tuscany). This exercise involved three municipalities (Orciano, Santa Luce, Castellina Marittima).
The test of the web tools was been conceived, organized and implemented by Elena Rapisardi and Antonio Campus – the person responsible of the Centro Intercomunale.
We set up a web emergency team.
In real time we followed the exercise and communicated with the population through a simple wordpress blog.
We simulated report from citizens sent through crowdmap; the operating room received the report and activated the rescue teams.
Apart from some difficulties with google docs, due to the fact that people are not accustomed with google docs use, we assessed that the test had good results and the feed-backs were positive.
At the end of the exercise we met a group of volunteers to illustrate what we did and the results.

Good afternoon,

I am in the process of looking for a humanitarian job in Haiti. I have 25+ years of construction experience and want to find something that will use those skills to help the people there. I am looking for a paid position.

Do you have any recommendations. I have looked at the Devex website but wanted to see if you have any other thoughts.
